The birds can become tangled in the threads if they are too long, so run a rotary cutter through the clump of threads before handing them out. The kids are darling and having so much fun! Thanks for sharing with us, made my day. Signed a bird lover from WA state.
Thanks for the tip. Never thought about the length of the threads. Most of ours our short, but I have longer ones from a shawl... I'll be out in the morning giving the threads a haircut :)

That is so sweet! My in laws always had piles of dog hair from the constantly shedding malamute. She taught me to put it outside for the birds and such to line their nests. Never thought about doing this with string. :)
For years we used the beautiful, soft, thick fur from our Siberian Husky. We would set it out with string, yarn and roving, and Nikki's beautiful fur was always the first to go. She's been gone for almost 3 years now, but whenever we put out nesting material for the birds, I always think of sweet Nikki!
At Wee Folk Art we combine our love of Wee Folk with our love of Folk Art, creating designs that are uniquely Wee Folk Art! Craft along with us by creating some of the many free patterns found on or blog, or visit our Shop for additional patterns and kits.
